Peterson Group in partnership with Westbank Corp and OP Trust, and in collaboration with Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), is proud to announce the advancement of the net-zero community project in downtown San Jose.
This groundbreaking development will:
- Integrate three data centers with up to 4,000 residential units, creating a model for sustainable urban living
- Repurpose the excess heat produced by the data centers through a district energy system to provide heating and cooling for surrounding buildings.
- The project includes rehabilitating the 100-year-old Bank of Italy building, adding 114 residential homes
Milestones:
- On April 8, 2025, the San Jose City Council granted greenlights for the advancement of the first two data centers
- PG&E has begun infrastructure upgrades to deliver 200 MW of power to the data center
- Westbank has launched a global call for data center partners to join the initiatives
Additional benefits of the Net Zero Community:
- Reduced energy bills for business and residentials by utilizing recycled heat from data centers
- Efficient use of electricity powering the data centers
- Decarbonization of buildings connected to the district energy system
This project redefines sustainable tech infrastructure while addressing Silicon Valley’s housing and computing needs—proving environmental and community goals can work in harmony.
